I absolutely love this song. I've had the pleasure of seeing Eat your own head play live several times now. They are always so, so good. I've bought the albums. I've got all the T-shirts. I love this band.
The music they make is exactly my cup of tea. It might not be everyones, but it does something for me. This track, from their 2022 debut album, Neck-Deep in the Blyth, especially gets me going. I get chills every time I hear Ash start to sing about a riot, flaming torch, pitchfork... we've got to stop ourselves from getting locked - in a box —
SLAVEEEEEEE
TO THE DAAAAYYYY
REARRANGE
MY FACE
It's just nuts.
If you like this track as much as I do, I'd highly recommend checking out the whole album, their earlier EP, and the stuff that's come since.
I find it hard to believe a small band fairly local to me can be so good. I've heard plenty of good small bands - don't get me wrong, there's great music everywhere - but this is just so up my street, I can barely believe it.
The riffs, the lyrics, the singing, the screaming, the harmonies, the production - the drums! holy shit. I think these guys deserve a lot more play than they seem to get it. They have a pretty dedicated following in their hometown of Norwich, but these guys should be everywhere.
I'll never skip a single EYOH track when it comes on, but Poltergeist - when it comes on, it astounds me. I think about emailing the band just to let them know how good it is. Instead of being a complete brown-noser, I'm just making this post instead. I might still email them.
